Last Day of Preschool

(1) It has been so long since I last updated the blog (my sweet mommy friends totally tease me about it) that Blogger has changed the format. So bear with me...

(2) Today was Jackson's last day of preschool in the twos class.

Trying to get a sweet smile - but he just gave me a mischievous grin.

My friend Christine told me that she takes a picture of her kids on the first and last day of school. What a great idea! I chose this tree because it is a pretty good distance from the street and when I started taking these pictures, he would sometimes run off unexpectedly.

Jackson's teacher this year was Ms. Stephanie. She also works in the nursery on Sunday mornings, so on Monday and Wednesday she had Jackson and on Sundays she had Brenna. I got to know her when Jackson was a baby and I volunteered in the nursery for a few months. This first picture was taken on "meet the teacher" day when Brenna was just 3 weeks old.

This second picture was taken today. The two things that stand out to me are the difference in Brenna's size (whoa!!) and the texture of Jackson's hair! Some time in the past 9 months, Jackson's hair has gone from straight to curly. I can't get over it! I love his hair both ways, but part of me is sad that his "baby" hair is gone.

Jackson loved school this year. He always talked about seeing "Miss Stepagie" (Stephanie) and his friends at school. One other important change this year: Jackson started the year in a diaper, and by Christmas he was totally potty trained (with the occasional accident). These days, he is almost entirely accident-free and we are so proud of our big boy. I'm also crazy proud that Brenna is smiling in this picture - usually she has major separation anxiety even when I'm inches away.

Here are the first and last day pictures from the past two years:

I just noticed that in all but the last picture, Jackson is wearing crocs. He LOVES his "Croc shoes" and wants to wear them all the time - I love that they give him independence in being able to take them on and off all by himself.

So that is it for Jackson's second year of preschool! I feel so blessed that we have him in a school with such loving, understanding, sweet caregivers. I just know the next two years will be just as wonderful as the first two!
